"I registered with NH because I was tired of working for places that had me caring for 8 children or more. I wanted a more personal setting. I picked NH out of the yellow pages. I have a family that I have been with for about three months and we all get along very well. But most of all I loved how I did not have to do all the searching myself. It's so nice to have the jobs come to ME instead of hunting around. I know that the families have been informed about industry standards and the negotiation process. The negotiation process is simpler, friendlier and more comfortable for me because of agency." - Ginny

About Rebecca:
As a women entrepreneur, mother of two and wife, I am passionate about helping provide life balance in other women’s lives. While pregnant with my first child, I began a search for a nanny but wanted a more personal touch in the services I received. As a former nanny, and an expecting mother, I felt I could fill a niche in providing caring and thoughtful support. At that time, I approached a local nanny agency owner who was looking for a life change, and before I knew it, I had acquired the agency and began the long process of refining and shaping it into the Nannies from the Heart of today. In the last several years I have discovered that I have a true knack for providing people with the tools to find nurturing care for their little loved ones, and thus, create more balance in their lives. I love to see families smile—and relax a bit—as their visions of the perfect nanny unfold and are realized.
I have always been fascinated watching children and how they learn, and I took child development coursework in college, so I found it natural to work as a nanny. I spent several years off and on working for families, caring for children from infants to elementary school age. Nanny work just clicked with me and I found myself able to quickly connect to the needs of not only the children, but also the parents. During that time, I also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and learned a lot about children that weren’t so lucky to have capable and loving parents. I then became a Student Special Events Coordinator at Austin Community College, where I worked hand-in-hand with young students in creating club events and worked with them to create a student government. Later, I took my event planning skills and put them to work as a “Commute Solutions Program Developer” at AMD. Commute Solutions programs promoted ridesharing (carpooling and vanpooling) transit and bicycling for employees to find an alternative to driving alone to work every day. After starting Nannies from the Heart, I became involved in several area communities for women entrepreneurs. (See the resources page for a glimpse of many of the women I work and network with.) I find my own strength in working with and learning from many of these powerful moms and business owners. A couple worth noting include the Austin Personal Renewal Groups and Big Fish Nation. |

Placement Specialist for Sitting, Events and Hotels
Responsibilities: All sitting placements
About Wendy:I am 10 and 12 years older than my sisters, so I have grown up raising kids! After earning my teaching certificate from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State), I taught middle school for three years in Round Rock ISD. Not one to idly twiddle my thumbs in my down time, I also took on the challenge of running my school's after school and summer program for two years. Once baby Emily came along in 2002, I knew that I wanted to be home with my daughter and was fortunate enough to continue running the after school program with Emily strapped to my back as the unofficial program mascot!
|
| When Emily was just 2 years old, I met Rebecca D'Amico and convinced her that I could handle checking references and coordinating background checks for all nanny candidates. As a mother, I understood the importance of this task and relished the opportunity. I gradually began taking on more tasks with Nannies from the Heart, and now is the official Placement Specialist for all babysitting requests, as well as hotel and special event sitting jobs. I truly enjoy building relationships with families and nannies, and making it easier for parents to get some much needed time alone! |

About Danille:
I have lived in the Austin area for more than 16 years and am blessed with a wonderful husband of 10 years, Josh, and two beautiful children, Kennedy and Carson. I was introduced to Nannies from the Heart as a mother who did not have any family support close by, so I experienced the value in what Nannies from the Heart had to offer first hand. With that support, I could go to work or have a relaxing evening with my husband and leave feeling confident, peaceful and with a clear head knowing that my precious children were in safe hands.
My career began with Kaplan Test Prep and Sylvan Learning Center. I appreciated working with both children and adults that were preparing for their education and valued a career that contributed to inspiring their future. Shortly after having Kennedy, I started my own business--One Fine Day Weddings--as a wedding coordinator and officiant. I had the privilege of performing more than 150 ceremonies and coordinating numerous weddings, which gave me a lot of experience in helping women at a very special--although stressful--milestone in their lives. Running a successful business and balancing my entrepreneurial spirit with a strong family life was challenging and rewarding, and it couldn't have been possible without the support from Nannies from the Heart.
My close friend, Wendy Lipe, has been involved with Nannies from the Heart for six years, and I knew from her experiences that it was a company that I wanted to be a part of at some point in my career. In November of 2009 I sold my business and heard from Wendy that Rebecca was looking for a Placement Specialist. I knew in my heart that this was the perfect time for me to give back to Nannies from the Heart, the organization that gave me so much when I needed it most. I am excited to work with these talented, dedicated and inspiring women, and I look forward to using my experience as an entrepreneur, mother and event planner to grow the business and help support Austin families.
